Trick-or-Treat?

About to begin...

Walking along....

Playing in the leaves..... We have some candy!
Sorry about the bad pictures. They didn't turn out too well.

Marissa came up with one of the best costume ideas yet!
During the summer she put Brayden's basketball hoop over her waste as a skirt and decided that she loved the new look. From there, she came up with the bright idea of being a basketball hoop for Halloween. Then we thought that Brayden could be a basketball since basketball is one of his favorite things. (When he sees someone playing, he either wants to play or will sit mesmerized for a few minutes. That is how we snuck solid food into his diet.)
Marissa helped paint and blow-dry the shirts. Brayden fought the costume until we bribed him with a piece of candy. Then we went out to the neighborhood. They received many compliments which helped get them a
bit more candy at times.
Marissa was extremely patient and waited for Brayden's short legs to catch up. Once he realized that a light on outside the house meant more candy, he was able to walk a bit faster. He would say "trick-or-treat" at least 3 times before the door opened, despite Marissa explaining that you should wait until the door opens. Brayden and Marissa were not shy when saying "trick-or-treat" which is a bit of a surprise since they are both shy around strangers. However, Brayden wouldn't put his "Lightning McQueen" bucket up in arms reach to receive candy. The neighbors had to come out to him.
After we exhausted our neighborhood, we went to see Brent's friend, Doug, his wife, his daughter, and his twins. They were tired from the big night (and the babies) so we visited quickly and went off to a few more houses.
This time Marissa and Daddy went up ahead of Brayden and Mama. Brayden was singing and playing in the leaves. He sort of forgot about the candy. When he realized Daddy wasn't in sight, he asked, "Where my Daddy go? Daaaaddy arrrre you? Daaaaady wait for me. I coming Daddy?" over and over.
Finally, we decided to head back home. Halloween was a fun night for the fam'!
